Anita howard, SAMP
Anita’s tale is a love story of plants and animals all things natural. She is a full-time, professional Small Animal Massage, Holistic Pet Care Practitioner, Pet Sitter & Dog Walker. She became certified in therapeutic massage to care for her senior rescue kitty with arthritis in his hind legs and her rescue dog adopted with a broken jaw which is healing naturally. Anita believes that a day filled with coos, purrs, wiggles and wags while nurturing happier and healthier tomorrows for your pet is the best day ever. She will care for and treat your beloved animals like her own.
Talents: She completed an extensive Master Gardener program and then attended the well-respected Northwest School of Animal Massage to obtain her certification as a Small Animal Massage Practitioner (SAMP), is currently completing a certification in Aromatherapy for Animals and is a Reiki Master trained in Japanese Usui Reiki Ryoho energy work. She is an insured member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP) and Pet Sitters Associates, LLC, plus is a member of the International Association of Animal Massage & Bodywork (IAAMB). She has also completed Pet Tech's Pet CPR and First Aid hands-on training course.
Paw It Forward: Anita created Now and Zen’s “Paw It Forward” program to further her commitment to community service and donates therapeutic massage sessions to hard-working therapy animals for every massage package purchased. She is proud to currently serve the Therapy Dogs of Boulder County and previously donated massages to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley in Colorado.
Volunteer Service: For the past 15 years, Anita has followed her heart and volunteered with various animal care and conservation organizations including the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., a wildlife refuge on the Emerald Coast of Florida, a wildlife conservation center in the Shenandoah Mountains of Virginia and farm sanctuaries, an equine therapy center and the Oregon Humane Society in the Pacific Northwest.

now and zen fur family
Rest in Peace sweetheart Harley ~
Kingston is the newest addition to the Now and Zen family and is a special needs rescue from the Pixie Project. He is a Miniature Pinscher/Chihauhua mix with a sweet high-stepping trot and bouncy ears. He is a mellow lovebug that is friendly with all cats and dogs and is Anita's cute-t-pie sidekick.
Talents: He really loves to stop and smell the flowers, grass, every bush, interesting blades of grass, telephone poles and trash cans. His favorite toy is a stuffed lamb and he adores snuggling in bed.
Pet names: King, Pumpkin and Kinnnnggg-ston
Super power: Invisibility. Kingston would love to visit trash cans in stealth mode.
Sage was rescued at 5 months old from a campground where someone had abandoned him. He is, let's say, a bit more on the sensitive side with lots of mew, mew, mewing and big purrs. He has pretty green eyes, tufts at the tips of his ears and often likes to burrow under blankets.
Talents: He lives for treats, his favorite toy is a rainbow colored ribbon and sometimes he preemptively gives his kitty brother a smack down.
Pet names: Sagey Wagey Pudding Pie, Muffin and Sweet Boy
Super power: Flight. Sage is already convinced that he can fly from tall heights.
Our sweet senior kitty Harley crossed the Rainbow Bridge in June 2016. He will be in our hearts forever.
Harley was a tiny feral kitten rescue and grew up to be the alpha cat, the strong and silent type. He has big gold eyes and his whiskers turned white when he was 8 years old.
Talents: He likes to stand on his hind legs and wave his paws in the air whenever Anita dances. He enjoys cheek and chin scratches, is a fan of shaking his tail feathers and drools when he is happy.
Pet names: Boo boo, Fuzzy Monkey and Bunny
Super power: Shape shifting. Because Harley is just cool like that.
